Facebook launches Flipboard-like news reader – Paper
Experts have been suggesting for a while now that Facebook wants to go in the direction of being a news destination. The social network has changed it’s algorithm to show content that is trending while favouring links to articles.
It’s a smart move on their part. They’re losing teens and gaining 45+ year old users at a drastic rate. Look at this infographic from Mashable.
Facebook announced a new app today called Paper that curates content from the news feed. Much like Flipboard, users will be able to select the categories and sources they want in their feed. Users can share photos and links from the app, but Facebook says Paper will supplement Facebook, not replace it. Paper will be released for iOS on February 3rd. There is no mention of a Android version as of yet.Tags: App, Facebook, Paper
