Big Bang launches Kickstarter campaign

Steven Male, the entrepreneur behind the online optimisation startup Big Bang, has announced a Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of a comprehensive and affordable optimisation programme for SME’s.

“At the moment we have got the software,” Steven said, “but  we currently need to manually bring the two pieces of software together to provide the service.

“The money from the Kickstarter will be used to link and automate the backend systems, taking hours off the process so we can make sure we are as affordable and effective as we can be.”


The project is asking for $15,000, and has received over $3,150 with 18 days to go at the time of this writing. As incentives, Steven is offering backers heavily discounted early-bird packages, as well as free reports, 3 months of free service, and even a free personal expert who will work alongside you. Backers who pledge over $5,000 will be rewarded with a position as the company’s co-founder.

“The response has been surprisingly positive,” Steven said. “People have sent us a whole bunch of questions and positive remarks, and they’re all keen to jump on board in the following few weeks. I guess we are still waiting for the critics to emerge.”

The team chose Kickstarter over the New Zealand crowdfunding platform PledgeMe because they felt that the latter was more of a “personal charity” based platform. Additionally, they’re attempting to get a SaaS project funded, which is rarely done through crowdfunding, and Kickstarter offered much wider reach.

“We wanted to see what a different community would think because it’s as much about getting feedback and making sure we are providing what people want than trying to raise as much capital as possible,” Steven said.

Once the project is funded, Steven plans to acquire customers by creating B2B partnerships.

“Our strategy is to start approaching other companies that provide vertical services, such as website developers that don’t provide SEO,” Steven added. “We have found that being recommended by someone is literally the most powerful way of reaching out to a potential customer and B2B partnerships are the most effective way to achieve this.”
